Visa-Free Entry (No Visa for Indians)

• Who qualifies Indian nationals do not need a visa to visit Bhutan. Instead, you’ll be issued an Entry Permit when entering the country.
• Entry Permit Issuance:

  • By road: At Bhutan immigration offices on entry (e.g., Phuentsholing, Gelephu, Samdrup Jongkhar, Samtse) near the India–Bhutan border.
  • By air: At Paro International Airport upon arrival.
• Documents

  • Indian passport: Must have at least 6 months’ validity from date of entry.
  • OR Original Voter ID card (issued by the Election Commission of India)
  • For children under 18: Passport or birth certificate in English (if no passport)
  • Passport-size photographs (usually required at immigration counters).
  • Travel insurance
• Visa duration & fees: Approx ?1,200 per night per person.
• Currency

  • Indian currency (200 and below notes) are accepted in Bhutan.
  • 500 rupee notes are generally not acceptable
